The Problem

Your Trees Are Probably Nutrient-Deficient

Most tree problems — slow growth, thin canopies, increased susceptibility to pests and disease — trace back to nutrient deficiency. And as with most tree problems, the cause is usually manmade.

In a natural forest setting, fallen leaves decompose and return organic matter and nutrients to the soil. In a residential landscape, we rake those leaves up every fall. We keep lawns clean. We remove the very material that feeds the trees. Over time, the soil's microbial populations — which break down organic matter and make nutrients available to root systems — are significantly reduced.

Annual fertilization replaces what regular landscape maintenance removes, giving your trees the nitrogen and nutrients they need to maintain healthy growth, strong structure, and natural disease resistance.

We typically recommend fertilization as a complement to pruning, health assessments, or removal work already being done on your property. Combining it with a scheduled visit keeps costs low and maximizes the benefit.

Our Process

How We Apply It

Canopy Measurement

We measure the canopy area of each tree to calculate the correct nitrogen rate — 2 lbs of nitrogen per 1,000 square feet of canopy coverage.

Drip Line Application

Fertilizer is applied on the drip line — the outer edge of the canopy — where feeder roots are most active and best positioned to absorb nutrients.

Slow Release Over 60 Days

20% of nutrients are available immediately upon application. The remaining 80% release gradually over 60 days, providing sustained feeding without runoff or burn risk.
